Daily like limit

    We have introduced a limit for the number of times you can like a post / day.
    Currently this limit is set to 20 likes / day.
    This was introduced to prevent abusive behavior.

    But..I liked abusive behaviour ;). It was so sweet to get 40 likes from one person.

    While this is a good start, how will it prevent someone from signing up for multiple accounts to increase the limit?

    There is a plug-in that detects when someone is trying to use multiple accounts.

    @h1ghm1nd Thanks for implementing this. Is there any way we can find out how many likes left for the day at any time? I assume the number of likes is reset back to 20 at midnight Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)? :)

    Is this rule applying also to gold members? I hope not, because it does not seem fair to me. Gold membership is already limited by time.

    Yes, this limit applies to everyone.
    This is put in place to prevent abuse so in case you need to increase this limit just send me a conversation.

    I second this too. It really sucks to stay out of "likes", especially when there are candies in front of your eyes. Since there are a lot of GOLDS who buy their status and don't contribute much, is it possible to tie the numbers of "likes" you have to the number of likes you receive? So the more you share, more "likes" you have at your disposal?

    With all the shares some of us have made, it's a little bit insulting to be thrown in the same basket as the members who only leech.

    Of course this limit is not fair for some members, but the system as it is does not provide a way to differentiate between members.
    I am also working on adding exceptions for members that are good contributors (based on the amount of likes).

    I have added a new user group.
    If you have more than 1000 likes you will be automatically added to the "No Limit" user group and you will be exempt from the daily like limit.

    Some members are just liking posts with no real value and make multiple accounts and try to abuse the system.
    The limit is intended to make members like only valuable content.
    Anyway, I think that older members should not be limited, but the threshold of only 200 likes was too low, so probably I will increase this value to a much higher limit. What do you think?
