Besides from having a tablet or a Wacom as Post Production, there's another tool that a Photographer / Photo Editor / Retoucher should have?

Just checking things out, if anyone from this club has already used it? How is it on your part?

I am here, sharing you a device for you to have. In the end, it will save you and life, esp when you already have your own client. Because when you have your PRINTs or your results on Post Production, it's not all the time. That your Monitor is always right. You need to sync your Monitor in a timely manner.

I use Spyder5 alongside DisplayCAL to properly calibrate my diaplays. It takes about an hour but worth the result.

Spyder 5 here. Monitor calibration is a must. Also, check out the xrite colorchecker passport. Shoot a frame of the color chart with your camera and create a custom color profile and white balance with it in Lightroom.

I think there are two variables to color accuracy. Of course color calibration, and enough color data to calibrate from as well. How useful is it to calibrate a 70-80% gamut monitor? Is it really useful?

DisplayCAL have a realtime measure instrument which helps you to adjust RGB levels and luminance level before starting proper calibration. Usually I calibrate mine on 120cd/m2 luminance level and after ICC profile is generated and applied I re-adjust brightness level for my needs.

Spyder5Express because there is no difference between them. Just the licensing software. Sensor is the same for every spyder5.
I personally use Spyder5Express with DisplayCAL. More advanced, more accurate, and it is OpenSource and continously updated.

Even a used spyder2 if you can trick the software into running on win 10 or use Grenice's suggestion. If you don't know the color on your monitor is accurate why even bother editing.

Surprisingly Datacolor Spyder5PRO is selling for $99.99 while the supposedly cheaper Datacolor Spyder5Express is selling for $129.00 in Amazon.

Pick the cheaper one, colorimeter is the same for all software versions.

Me, @anonzzz I just used the color swatches on the Paint Store as an alternative (actually I just got on a Home Depot Exhibit). I just get the neutral GRAY color, together with Black and White tiles and put it on a keychain. Then used it as ColorChecker Passport on my photo shoot, by giving it to the model.

Plumbers tape is a very pure white point and a 2$ roll fits so nicely in a camera bag. Or buy any 16-24 swatch target for 10$ and buy the book Skin by someone who's name starts with a V and it has a chapter on building profiles.

You really should be calibrating capture and during edit, people who think pro means 30 likes on Instagram have lost their businesses over soliciting work where color matters and not following best practices

I have the Xrite i1 Display. For a lot I've used it's own software. Lately I'm starting to use Display Cal. There are visible difference into the profile result. I need to try more and see what is the more reliable result with a print

There's a big issue with iMac. There no RGB calibration and the 5k monitor have a particular type of display. I'm not really happy with the results
