Okay so I went into the deep archives of the internet lol and finally found the older versions.

My Setup
macOS Monterey 12.2.1
MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)

My Results
SmartAlbums 2.0.1 installation works and opens but the patch did not work.
SmartAlbums 2.0.26 installed and it works!

I am pretty sure other (older versions) work but since they are so old they're hard to find, most of them are from shady torrent sites and thus far only managed to grab 2.0.26, so if anyone has older versions that can share or test to see if they work with Monterey would be greatly appreciated!

 

is there anything in particular you did to get this working?

My setup is
MacOS Monterey 12.3.1MacBook Air M1, 2020

SmartAlbums 2.0.26 installs but crashes on initialisation...any ideas?

I searched but it is not available for m1 processors at the moment, I think it is available for normal mac.

 

I did remove any past installations with AppCleaner (not sure if that did anything).

Really? That’s so odd.
Can you install the trial version, from their web and create a new project and then install 2.0.2.6 on top of it, it will ask to replace so click replace. Give that a try, I’m now curious why mine is working.

 

Followed your instructions but still didn't work for me. I am running MacOs 12.3.1 and you are running 12.2.1 - could this be the issue?

 

That's probably the only difference, I guess that could be it :/ dang.

12.4 not working

 

To all who hasn't solved this... Just found the solution.

After Monterey 12.3, Apple stopped supporting a certain python file that is required for SmartAlbums 2 to function (Python 2.7). Since Apple has removed it from its operating system, it would not be possible to use SmartAlbums 2. To solve this issue, you can re-install the Python [ python-2.7.18-macosx10.9 ]: link https://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.18/python-2.7.18-macosx10.9.pkg

After that, install version 2.0.26
