    Hello All,

I’m in the market looking for a new monitor.

    I have a 2018 MacBook Pro.

I need a desktop. My plan is to get a monitor for now and Mac Pro next year. All the IMac or IMac Pro seem like they are around a refresh.

I have researched and found three monitors I’m interested in. Suggestions are welcome.

    1. LG 5K Ultrafine.
There are rumours that there will be a monitor with video card next year.
    2. BenQ SW271
Have seen a lot of reviews online
    3. ViewSonic VP2785-4K
    Good Reviews on Amazon

    What would you recommend getting?

    Thanks for all the help.

For my experience Dell is the best for quality and assistance but it is not into your list.

LG is a good monitor, clear

    No knowledge for ViewSonic

Acknowledge, noted by Merlin. In Dell, any recommendation, for low end and best options. Thanks, again.

I am lucky I don't have clouds in the corners, however I do have one dead pixel, which appeared a couple weeks ago. I have been using this monitor for a year and a half, and for the price it cost, given it is a 10 bit display, covers 100% of Adobe RGB and a few other convenient features, I would argue it is the best value for a low budget.

This makes me feel like SW271 is beat option. I think I would be better off having a 4K. Had a 1440P monitor before, perferred editing on MacBook instead.

UP3216Q is the best but any other 4k monitor is great. I'm working with pleasure and satisfaction on DELL P2715Q

I decided and went ahead with Benq SW320 Refurbished Model. I found it cheaper than buying SW271 or LG 5K Ultrafine.

I have yet to revive my. Shipment but will update.

So I'm looking for a monitor for home too. And now, the specific Dell models for photography are expensive. Now I'm between Viewsonic vp3268-4k and Benq SW271. Both have problems in homogeneity and purity on panels. Have you some experience with these monitors?

I don't have any of the monitors so I'm unaware of any issues. I went with a SW 320 refurbished model. BenQ has a good amount of reviews online and I didn't find much on Viewsonic.
I do know that there is a difference in the Viewsonic 32 VS 27. 32 inch covers less of the Adobe RGB compared to the 27, that is something you might want to look into.

    Hello Everyone,

    Update on my part:

I bought a refurbished SW320 on eBay. It would only ship in US and I picked it up from the border. I paid the taxes for import ahah. It didn't come in original packaging. It was just a brown box.

When I plugged it in, the coolers seemed awful. I tried calibrating it. I have a Colormunki which is not compatible with Pallet software. I tried it with the colormunki software but the colors looked off. I researched online and found that DisplayCal is great software to use. I download that and after couple of tries I found colours were looking good enough.

I then noticed that the monitor was not consistent at all. It had a pink thing on its right side. Picture attached.

I opened DisplayCAL and it has a feature which measures the consistency of the monitor. I failed on the right and the left side. It just confirmed my doubts.

I got in touch with customer support and they were kind enough to send a replacement. They even sent it in an original packaging, basically a new monitor I assume.

The colours on this one look great right out of the box. One thing I did try was the consistency test. It passed on pretty much everything except top right little areas. It is a not a crucial part for me in my processing. I don't seem to see it with my eye.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the monitor. I had an iMac Pro before this just to try it out. iMac was definitely higher pixel density. I kinda miss it but this is also a massive 32 inch and 4k. It has made editing a breeze and better to work on a bigger screen than a laptop one. I will potentially get the Spyder to do hardware calibration after I'm convinced enough I need it.

I hope this was helpful and I was clear enough.
