Hello everyone, I'd like to know what are some courses on Portrait Photography that you recommend? I've heard Lara Jade and Lindsey Adler are good but haven't seen them yet. Let me know if there are other courses that you recommend!
I think these types of things are rather subjective. I guess the value of the tutorial would depend on what you're looking to learn/gain and the ways you learn/retain information. One person might be interested in lighting, the other styling or posing. Another person may like simple and quick explanations, while I personally prefer more context and thorough learnings. Maybe list some you've found beneficial or that you really like their teaching style. What are you wanting to grasp more understanding of?
@dailydabbledose Thank you. So I'm an experienced landscape, travel photographer, but a beginner in portraits. How to edit portrait shoots is different from editing landscapes for example. Also, I know the importance of lighting in photography, but I have little experience in using artificial lighting. So this is kinda my situation. What I'd like to know is (in this order): 1. How to edit portraits. What are the best portrait editing courses on here. 2. What are some recommended presets for portraits that people find effective? These presets, for instance, might excel in preserving natural skin tones, which provides insights into the editing process. (Learning from presets is what I did with landscape photos). 3. How to shoot portraits. So would like to learn posing the subject and lighting (natural and artificial lighting). Shooting indoors, as well as, outdoors. 4. How to retouch the skin. I only want to know the basics as I can imagine hours can be spend on this part of editing haha The artists/experts that I like, and their courses that are shared on here are: Lara Jade, Lindsey Adler, Tamara Williams and Liquidverve. They look good and I'm going to do their courses during my upcoming holiday. I would like to know what courses other people recommend If I can share what kind of portrait style I'm into, I'm interested in styles akin to those of Julia Trotti, Justin Laurens, Marie Bärschand Kai Böttcher (I've linked their instagram so you can see the styles).
I'm on a kida similar boat about retouching, in another thread some members recommended the Retouch Academy tutorials, so I started with the most basic one, you can read my review (and download it) in this thread. Hope it helps.
Thank you for the suggestion. Did you do other retouching courses? If yes, which ones and how do they compare to "Retouching Jumpstart Tutorial"?
