Question @TeoQ17 : Is there a Module 8 discussing Davinci 17 (newest tools, etc - - - the reference site has this but I'm assuming ya got this prior to that Module release - correct?
thanks for this! Amazing! - Folder -03 in the Masterclass Database with the Color Grading files seems to be missing. Any chance we can have this as well please?
No - you don't need it. But I would make sure (or check with the uploader) to verify the contents (share) is complete and functioning. As stated- it serves as [at least] an indicator that there was an interruption in the download - it'll usually be completed (for example with Mega - if the file-size bandwidth is exceeded and then re- picked up on either VPN change or time-limit resuming file DL) - but it's not a bad idea to assure the post is indeed complete . . . hope this answers the question. When I came across these files - they were mostly completed and residual indicators, but there were circumstances where the DL was actually interrupted and therefore incomplete. So please do take note of any such files and do a search (even on your own SSD / HDD if DL from Mega) as @Jupiter highlights within his/her "tip" thread. Just perform a search / find for any ' getxfer ' files [any accompanying numbers are specific to the file(s) being downloaded]. _EDIT_ I just performed a search on my active drives noting 22 files - all associated with an apparent intrruption but all DLs complete.
One more question: so no files in the database folder are needed if I'm downloading from the web, right? All the course content starts from Module 00 and ends in 07. Thanks in advance
If "from the web" - you mean via the Mega-link in Post#1 (?). These appear to be the work files associated with the share - and they also appear to be incomplete (and is probably represented by the rogue .getxfer.702.174.mega file in the Database folder - and also pointed out by Post #4 above). This has yet to be resolved by the OP. Also - my question in Post #3 remains unanswered. So - If you need the space - I guess you can delete the incomplete Database folder if opting to go without those files. Some people learn best by actually performing the hands-on process. Others do fine and are able to carry-over just from observational memory; lucky sons-of-guns . . .
It’s confusing because, according to my web searches and your explanation above , getxfer appears only when a transfer is incomplete or when an error occurs. I misunderstood and thought all the files in the database folder were getxfer, but it seems they’re actually part of the course. I’m new to cinematography, so I had this doubt—do I need to download a 29 GB folder and waste time, or should I just go with the video files only
In my opinion - you can skip this folder unless you need the completed work files. It contains the following and incomplete (what Post # 4 and #6 above is saying) files [the incomplete Folder #3]. If you need the files - ONLY download the 15.1 GB (3 files); the getxfer file for this share, as you stated, indicates it's useless because it's incomplete. Hope this helps in your decision - but naw - - - I'd skip it.
To resolve the issue, you should follow these steps. It is likely that only the file name .mega remains. Download and open ; You can open the getxfer.702.174.mega file using the 7.zip archiving programme. I tried it, and the files (Folder 03 - CC & CG) came out of the rar file. Just error one files ; error files : Folder 03 - CC & CG\footage\VMUME_CG_CLIP_11.mov I hope this has been helpful.
Correct - as you can see: it's missing .MOV files 8 - 9 - 10 EDIT: Also 4 - errored 5, and the errored 11.mov file too Interestingly - I had NO idea that one could open the incomplete getxfer file with 7.zip (something I'll try to remember for these rare circumstances). A kind soul provided me with a pointer to an alternative source and I'll post those missing 4-5-8-9-10-11 .mov files for the effort of "completeness" - if anyone is interested [now that it's been identified one can extract those items listed in Post #17 from the OP]. The PIA part was the whole thing had to be DL'd in order to extract just the missing elements - but I felt committed at the time . . . But again - I feel these are not required for the purpose of the tutorial per se . . . and if ya want to see a geometrically-challenged wanna-be "chef" - watch Clip #5 . . . Attention: @TeoQ17 - Thanks for the opportunity to share in the learning process related to your generous share; albeit with noted "error" - When (and as time allows) - can you re-up the noted section on the Mega-link for all to get this share as originally intended; complete. The missing / partial share in Post #19 has a hard-limit of 30 days. Please feel free to DL and re-pack if required. Thanks again for this share - very appreciated . . .
