Yeah, I agree, it’s not that faithful to what I feel K64 should be. But as you said, this is a níce look.

Faithfulness to the original stock is tricky, isn’t it? LUTs are just interpretations of film stocks. And to complicate things further those stocks don’t render consistently depending on whether they were expired or not, pushed or not, paper used, chemicals used, temperature of the chemicals, time, etc.

Personally I prefer AndP’s interpretations of Kodachrome to Cinecolor’s.
Similarly, I prefer Cinecolor’s Technicolor to Analogica Labs version.
It’s a veritable candy shop out there and we can pick what we like

We seem to agree on a lot of preferences.

I recommend you try digistock for Kodachrome. One of the best.

 

Great recommendation. Unfortunately I don't use presets, just LUTs as they fit my use cases best, so I'll have to give these a pass. But you are right, the samples may be the best I have seen so far. Thank you

The closest you can get is using The Classic Presets Classic K14. Do NOT get the 2024 version. It is not an upgrade. The updated version has more inaccurate color transitions and skin tones.

About Kodachrome inspired Classic K14 Lightroom Preset

The dead give-away with most modern Kodachrome presets (K25, K64, and K200) and why they fail so badly is the red pop and skin tones. The dead give-away with the vintage Kodachrome presets (K10, K11, and K12) is how they fail to replicate certain key colors as well as mimic the skin tone results of the era.

Digistock Kodachrome is still the best in how it balances everything, but if you want results that are a little more heavy-handed like those of the photographers you mentioned, then the one I linked to above is your best bet - just be careful with the skin tones.
