Shooting Santa Claus for a cover
Adrian's in the Christmas spirit! And let this video be a subject that is Christmas related! Adrian had to shoot a cover for a magazine entirely in the Christmas style. And well... let Santa Claus be a friend of his... After shooting a few portraits, Adrian sets to work with Photoshop to deliver a high-quality cover for this magazine. With this video he takes you from the complete light set-up to the complete image processing.

    flooded-amsterdam.jpg
    Flooded Amsterdam
In this video, digital artist Adrian shows how he created the image of Flooded Amsterdam. He focuses on the interaction between water and the environment. He also shows how the water splashes can be made freestanding so that the whole scene comes across as credible.

    borobudur.jpg
The beautiful Borobudur put in the light
Sometimes you arrive at a place that is special, but where the light is just not as you intended it to be. Adrian shows you that this doesn't have to be a problem. For example, by adding another sky, a mist and a warm colour, you can easily create a beautiful incidence of light, in which case the largest Buddhist monument in the world, the Borobudur, is depicted even more spectacularly. Adrian will show you what it takes.

    rotterdam-skyline.jpg
There is music in the air of Rotterdam
Rotterdam has all the characteristics of a metropolis. And in that metropolis, the music from the water's edge will sound to your ears. At least... when your name is Adrian Sommeling. With his unique creative mind, he sees other qualities in seemingly ordinary buildings. In the creation of this photo, the tall buildings and the famous Erasmus Bridge serve as musical instruments that are played by himself and his son Nic. In this video Adrian explains how the photo came about.

    making-off-kratos.jpg
Making off Kratos with Oliver Richter
One of the videos shows how Oliver Richter, the world's longest bodybuilder, was photographed in the studio by three Mango Ice photographers. Adrian was one of them and you could see how he captured Oliver and what the end result was. In this video photo is discussed in more detail. Adrian takes you with him and shows you how his workflow went. He walks through all the layers in Photoshop and explains more about the post-production of this impressive shot of Oliver.

    red-trees.jpg
Turn a summer forest into an autumnal scene
A summer forest has its own specific characteristics. But what if you actually want to photograph a forest with autumnal shades in that summer period? Digital Artis Adrian shows you in this video how you can easily introduce the autumn via Camera Raw (Lightroom engine) in the summer in order to shoot an autumnal photo. You don't need any extra plugins for this.

    glowing-mushrooms.jpg
    The recipe for Glowing Mushrooms
You know them... the so-called bucket list. There will undoubtedly be photographers who have such a list in their pocket and maybe you are one of them. Adrian has also collected a whole list with pictures he wants to make. One of those wishes was to shoot Glowing Mushrooms. You need the right time of year, but then there is often enough choice in the type of mushroom. In this video, Adrian takes you through the editing process. He shows you how to shoot Glowing Mushrooms from two photos relatively easily.

    get-inspired-by-paintings.jpg
    Get inspired by paintings
You know... A great lack of inspiration, but you do want to take a picture. A favourite subject to be inspired is by looking at the beautiful paintings that other creative minds have made. In this video Adrian was inspired by the work of Carel Willink to make a composition of it (see example painting). Adrian shows you what his way of working and thinking is in this video.

    willink-full-post-process.jpg
Bonus video about the editing of the idea of Carel Willinks work
This bonus video is an addition to the video 'Get inspired by paintings'. It gave a general explanation of how the image was created. In this video Adrian goes deeper into it. He shows you how the techniques used for the final photo work. An instructive video for those who want to optimize their editing techniques.

    photoshop-basics.jpg
    Get started on Photoshop
Did you know that there are still photographers who don't use Photoshop? Lightroom is often used to process and edit a series of images. But if you want to edit a single image optimally to your perfect image, then Photoshop is the software of choice. The possibilities offered by Photoshop can be overwhelming. That's why Adrian will accompany you with this video and introduce you to the settings you need as a photographer to achieve the best possible editing.

    compositing-basics.jpg
    Complete tutorial of Compositing Basics
In this complete tutorial of almost four and a half hours, Adrian explains how to make a composition. He explains step by step what his working method is. Really everything is covered. From photographing to cutting out the models. But also the making of shadows, the techniques dodge and burn and the finishing touch will be discussed extensively. Nothing is kept secret by him. You'll get a complete look behind the scenes and you'll be able to learn all the details of the post processing.

    realistic-compositions-colors-and-reflections-part-1.jpg
Realistic compositions Colors and Reflections part 1

Unlike ordinary photographs where color correction is often no more than restoring the color balance, adjusting colors or changing the atmosphere is correcting your composite essential to get a realistic image. It is particularly important to know what you do and why you do it. In this tutorial, Adrian Sommeling will teach you three examples of where you should look for and how to correct it. If you understand this and can apply it to your images you will have a so much more realistic image. Much more realistic compared to those who don’t know what they are doing and hardly use color correction.
The other main topic of this tutorial is the creation of realistic reflections without making use of a mirror. In two examples Adrian will also work this out. Together with his Basic tutorial a must-watch for everybody that wants to create realistic composites.

    realistic-compositions-colors-and-reflections-part-2.jpg
Realistic compositions Colors and Reflections part 2

In part 2 of the tutorial of Realistic compositions Colors and Reflections, Adrian Sommeling will educate you by using three images. You will learn how to correct color balance, chance atmosphere or restore color balance. Essential corrections to get a realistic whole of your composite. Once you understand the technique you will be able to create your own image that will be much more realistic than before.

    realistic-compositions-colors-and-reflections-part-3.jpg
Realistic compositions Colors and Reflections part 3

In part 3 Adrian Sommeling takes you to the sequel of his tutorial Realistic Compositions Colors and reflections. His techniques are very effective to perfect your own composite. Especially in areas such as reflection, color balance, or changing the atmosphere and color correction, important improvements can be made to make it look as realistic as possible. The reflections come across naturally without having to use the so-called mirror technique. Those who have studied these three parts well will be able to edit their images much more realistically than before. Enjoy!

    composite-portraits-part-1.jpg
    Composite Portraits part 1

Adrian Sommeling will take you on a trip to get acquainted with one of the ways he shoots certain portraits. This video consists of four parts. The first two parts have a lifestyle portrait as a subject. Adrian shows you how he imitates natural light and he also teaches you how to create an artificial depth of field. Such techniques give a different view on making portraits. Educational and handy to take with you.

    composite-portraits-part-2.jpg
    Composite Portraits part 2

Digital artist Adrian Sommeling shows a different way of portraying. This tutorial consists of four parts where the first two parts are about lifestyle portraits. The techniques Adrian shows you might give you new possibilities or insights on how you can come home with full-fledged images with very little. Among other things, he will show you how he imitates natural light or even the depth of field entirely to his own hand.

    composite-portraits-part-3.jpg
    Composite Portraits part 3

In part three of this 4-part tutorial Adrian Sommeling switches from lifestyle to Movie Poster-style photos. Compared to the previous two parts of this tutorial he uses a number of other light setups and more time is spent on creating a good background. And to finish it all off, a rain shower is added to the scene!

    composite-portraits-part-4.jpg
    Composite Portraits part 4

Adrian Sommeling, the digital artist, photographs a so-called movie-style photo. A different type of photo compared to the first two parts of this tutorial. Adrian is a specialist in applying and creating backgrounds, so absolutely instructive to watch this video. He uses different light setups to create these photos. To make it a bit more exciting he also adds rain!

    giants-in-dubai-full-tutorial.jpg
    Giants in Dubai FULL tutorial

This tutorial is a four and a half-hour lesson in how to create real looking giants by composing several images until one new realistic composition. For this tutorial, you will need at least Photoshop CS5. This is because Adrian Sommeling uses in this tutorial the Puppet warp tool. With older versions, you can also follow the tutorial, except the part of the Puppet warp tool. This tutorial will be explained how to create depth by adding haze and the finishing touch will be slightly different from Google (Nik) color efex compared to the tutorial Realistic compositions - Basics.

    light-and-fire-full-tutorial.jpg
    Light and fire FULL tutorial

3D introduction. In this tutorial, Adrian Sommeling will introduce you to DAZ3D. This is a free 3D design software. Adrian will tell you briefly what you can do with it and how you can use it to create awesome, realistic scenes. just by combining your renders with real photos. More or less like they do in Hollywood, except, we are using photos instead of movies. Just like he did in this tutorial with the Trex!
Light and Fire - In this tutorial, Adrian will also show you how easy it is to create a night scene. With some photos he shot in Iceland we create a background scene. We gonna create lava and fire, without using any photos. So they are all photoshop effects that we use. Very helpful for all kinds of amazing images you want to create in the future and with the right light on the models you turn a complete scene from day to night.

    jungle-landscapes-and-animals-full-tutorial.jpg
Jungle landscapes and animals FULL tutorial

How great is it, to create your own reality!! In earlier tutorials, Adrian Sommeling worked with an existing photo as a background, but in this tutorial, he is gonna create the complete scene from scratch. Together with Adrian, you will create your own background... your own world! And in this video, he will put some animals and his son in his created world. It wasn't easy to shoot all the animals with the light that he needed so in this tutorial he also will show you how to change the light on the animals. Enjoy and success!

    Magic Forest

Digital artist Adrian Sommeling came across an ad some time ago. It showed a group of trees together where you look through the trees and get a kind of tunnel effect in the forest. That inspired Adrian to make such a composition himself. With this video, he shows you how he went about creating this beautiful composition. A real Magic Forest, enjoy!

    Apples and textures

How to create a 3D effect with textures? Composite artist Adrian Sommeling explains in this video how he works. The goal is to create a still life in which two apples are the main subject. Adrian shows how he creates a 3D effect in this project. How he deals with depth, light, and shadows. Everything can be brought back to simplicity. But by optimizing that basis you will be able to learn to further integrate this technique into your workflow.
