Well, so far you have around 17000 deaths because of coronavirus, and climbing (and there is a good chance that's under reported)
When you say something like that, it sounds like you don't care about the people that die because of the overwhelming number of patients who need medical help, but can't get it in hospitals. (not enough beds or respirators). The only way to try to minimize that is to stay indoors and help flatten the curve.
You can't control how many people (or which demographic) get the virus. In theory herd immunity sounds great, but the deaths and psychological trauma that can happen with that tactic is far greater. (and we don't yet know how long does immunity last, or how much the virus can mutate)

So far it seems like the only way to beat this is to develop a vaccine, and that will take time.
This is not like the flu.

No one has the perfect answer, because no one has all the information.
I can confirm that countless deaths in Italy were not tracked as covid19 just because swabs were not carried out.
And can confirm aswell that we had a much higher death rate just because hospitals weren't ready to deal with virus.
These are hard time like (hopefully) no one has ever experienced before, we should try to endure and understand each other first and foremost.
We will get through all this.
