Next Level Fine Art B&W Photography
    €91.25

Black & white fine art photography has come a long way. The first transition was from darkroom to digital. As a next development, Joel Tjintjelaars, a pioneer in this field, designed elaborate postprocessing techniques to create authentic pieces of art.

Now, black & white fine art photography is ready for the next level: Joel has created a theoretical background and tools that take you straight to the result with much less painstaking Photoshop work. In this tutorial, Joel provides a solid framework of how to find the right interpretation of your image gives you a clear vision on how to approach your work. A masking service saves you hours of work to prepare the elaborate masks necessary for full control over your image. And finally, a Photoshop Panel that automates most of the Photoshop techniques needed to get amazing results when processing your images.

Follow Joel Tjintjelaar to the next level of black & white fine art photography and save many hours of work getting there.

    Included in this tutorial is:

      • - 15 films in FullHD/1080p with a duration of 214 minutes.
      • - A .tif file of the example image for you to work around with.
      • - A PDF including the content description of the films.
      • - A 50 EUR coupon for ProImageEditors "Black & White Fine Art Masking" Service.
      • - A PDF with a description for ProImageEditors "Black & White Fine Art Masking" Service.

Please note 1: The tutorial frequently refers to the B&W Artisan Pro X software for Photoshop CC2015.5 and higher, which is a huge timesaver when creating Fineart B&W images. Whilst the tutorial also gives you info on how to work without it, we strongly recommend that you should get/have the panel. If you don't have it yet, there is a special deal available for the combo of tutorial and panel here

. For more information about the panel please visit my website
Please note 2: Due to the large file size we recommend a fast internet connection!

The title states 'Next Level', it's pretty sophisticated stuff that requires some experience, especially in per-visualization of what you want your image to look like.

If you want a quick and good way to convert to B&W I recommend Exposure X5.

In my experience, 'next level' is meaningless and bs marketing for someone who's just found out a new ps/lr function...

If you want to go from the 'Before' to the 'After' in the following images you really need to be 'Next Level'.
So if you are a 'Basic / Intermediate Level' (asking about a B&W conversion seems to indicate that) then you must get to 'Advanced Level' in order to get to what Joel does, and that is what he tries to teach.

    Just my two cents.

Asking about something means I'm basic? Nice. I'll say that replying indicates same then; if 'advanced' level means using words like 'next level' and thinking that's in any way meaningful you're exactly who this is marketed for. For me, I just wonder about the content not the wording, but you do you. I've only sold a few b&w prints and won one competition so I guess I need to take it up yet another level...how many levels are there? I'm downloading anyhow so let's see if you're right.

If that is the case, I would like to bow and apologize for not recognizing the Zen Master that you are, I'm not worthy of this conversation!

Furthermore, I would like to apologize for inciting you to download this over hyped tutorial, oh mighty one.

If you haven't started watching yet I would like plead that you not waste your precious time into watching an over hyped, over marketed, and pretentious piece of 'next level' bullshit tutorial, oh mighty one.

And If you still decide to watch it, I would like to apologize in advance for the poor rating that you are going to give it, knowing very well that it has absolutely no substance; and if you could you would like to unlike this tutorial, oh mighty one.

    I'm not worthy.

    I'm not!
It just happens that you have 'judged a book by it's cover' and you will be disappointed by the contents.
And to answer your original question: No, this is not a a good B&W conversion tutorial, It's only useful for a handful of images, and it requires a labour intensive approach to get the desired results.

    I didn't say you were, I said don't be...
I mean I didn't judge by it's cover, I was literally asking for the exact opposite of op's kind upload. Thanks for the actual reply though, I guess you need a strong 'fine art-y' image in the first place like the Pantheon long exp. Do you recommend anything less laborious/more applicable for more everyday images?

Personally, I like Exposure X5 because it has pretty decent approximation to the real thing.
I also have some LR presets that I use, it's all a matter of personal taste, isn't it?

It doesn't matter to you. What I mean is, the appropriate ND filter depends on the speed of the clouds (in this case) and what you want them to look like. Faster clouds won't require as dark a filter while slower ones will. When I'm going out for this kind of thing, and it IS something you'll probably want to dedicate the entire shoot to, I bring a variety of NDs, AND a CPL to get more DR in the clouds, and experiment. You may want to pack a lunch! ;)
