Can you list a couple of reasons why the switch back (besides the change from ownership model to subscription model?) - Just wondering because I've used both and find C1 "better" for me because I simply like the colors better and was always happy with the tethering of C1 better than LR - and I guess what irked me about LR (at the time) was how slow it was as the catalog got bigger. But I like the community support with regard to all the LR presets made available through sites like this . . . staggering options and choices. C1, on the other hand - has fewer third-party choices but sometimes less is more . . .
I started with C1 like 15 years ago because that's what the photographer I was second shooting for used when I first got started. I was on it until about 3 years ago when for whatever reason, I could no longer get my pirated version of photoshop to work. Since I was paying for it, I figured I'd try out LR. At the time, their object removal and AI selection tools were well beyond what C1 could do, and it happened to coincide with me spending a year traveling. Up until that point, I was almost exclusively a studio photographer (tethered shooting) and had my exact presets locked in. When I switched to doing exclusively photojournalism, I realized how little I understood about actually processing images to fit my vision. There were infinitely more presets for LR, and I wanted to take the easy way out, so I committed to that. Long story short, after processing thousands and thousands of images, I moved away from the 3rd party presets and built my own profiles and presets as jumping off points. Now that I know exactly how to get what I'm looking for out of my photos and I'm planning to ditch my Adobe subscription, it's time to move back. I do very little in Photoshop these days, so the free Affinity can handle my needs there. C1, Affinity, and Retouch4Me (D&B, Skintone, and Heal) is my workflow now.
. . . couldn't agree more . . . I've my numbers dialed in (for my particular 'style') and it is uniquely identifiable - [not that there's anything wrong with that - - - peeps who opt for all the myriad of preset options out there]. Thanks for the reply . . . and a touch of R4M is impressive as well . . . really is a significant time saver . . .
