So since we all consume tons of tutorials here, wondering if anyone can answer this:

One sticking point for me is getting consistent skin tones through the same shoot.

A couple steps I have taken is setting custom white balance so my camera is not adjusting the balance through each shot.

Another one I have been playing with is AEL so that my camera maintains the same exposure through the series of shots. I've found this useful as well.

I've also dabble with Liquidverve's soft proofing and Flawless skin's RGB balancing in Lightroom by the numbers.

Wondering if anyone has figured out any other useful ways to really dial in the skin?

    - When shoot with strobes i set my WB to 5500 (because strobe light wb output is that)
    - Camera is always in Manual mode
    - I use colorchecker passport, so I get one shot with it
    - I make base adjustments for one sample shot and save it as style (Capture One)
    - Then apply it too all shots and make further adjsutments if needed (Skin tool is very useful and it is also possible to save its settings)

Thanks. I start try that next shoot. I haven't used C1 as much but that skin tool does seem really useful.

Can also try various CTO gels if shooting in studio with strobes / heads . . . does make a difference . . .
    - Definitely shoot in manual - lock it down

There really is a multitude of variables relative to skin tones and settings at flash, camera, ambient, color (WB), etc.

Thanks. Yeah anytime I use a strobe I'm in manual mode, haven't really used corrective gels with them much so thats a good idea to try.

I've been shooting a lot of natural light so I use aperture priority and then use AEL lock once I find a balance between the highlights and shadows.

I saw this LUT the other day:

I haven't tried it, but it seems promising.

    - Manual mode
    - WB set with Kelvins (when shooting outside with lots of green color cast I additionally move green tint closer to magenta)
    - being aware of environment and color casts and avoiding them if possible
    - Flawless and recently I purchased Mastering Skin Tones by Laura Froese which is simplified method described in Flawless, I found it very helpful, I can upload it if you are interested

    Will do.

It doesn't work that well but you can try yourself.

Thanks a ton. I will give it a try.

Definitely interested in the Laura Froese course. I thought Flawless was very helpful but it is a bit complicated converting everything over to CMYK and doing the math. My issue is I can get skin tones close but between every shot I edit, there seems to be slight casts over in the magenta or cyan causing green-ish tones.

@LittleFinger @Nikon4life there you go with Laura:
    https://p-v.club/threads/hellostoryteller-laura-froese-mastering-skin-tones.21284/

I rarely do CMYK checkings anymore and rely on readings in LR most of the time. It took me time to get the consistent skin tones and there are times when I still struggle, especially when there are bad color casts involved. When WB sliders in LR don't to the job I often try playing with HSL panel and Split toning. Often times I look at the grid view in LR to make sure they look consistent and if they don't I tweak them again.

    Thanks for the share.
But as you said it doesn't work well on most images. But, it gives you a base to start with...

i tried , it worked in photoshop using Hue and Saturation. I even tried in lightroom, it worked too with the tint slider.

I can't seem to find the .cube file with that title (Tims Tools xyz.cube) - but I did come across a video instructing how to use it for skin tone correction . . .

    https://workupload.com/file/d8ABK8Y2E54

Perhaps a mirror from @Jack Smith or @Mystic Wolf (??)
But if I come across in the next couple days - I'll update accordingly . . . ;)

EDIT: The above link actually is a duplicate of his [author's] YouTube video explaining how to use. The video I have is from some other broader-scoped retouching tutorial . . .

EDIT: (again) - Okay - found this little bugger - posted below -
