Editorial portraiture is a discipline within photography that allows us to approach a working method that serves us for any type of photo shoot. The idea of the course is to learn to take portraits with flash lighting and continuous light, detailing the workflow from start to finish so that it can be applied not only to portrait work but also to any photography project in the future.

Start with the pre-production: analyze the assignment, the medium where you are going to publish, and the needs of the photo shoot—and think about the concept of the shoot, of course.

Once the preliminary work is completed, accompany Jorge in the studio to take photographs using three different light sources: a studio flash, a strobist flash, and continuous light. Remember that this course is 100% online, so you do not need to get up from your chair to go to a studio yourself. Observe and take note.

Later, download the photos to your computer and carry out the selection process with Lightroom for the cover and interior of the editorial. Reveal the RAW images and finish polishing those images in Photoshop.

Last, prepare your final file to send to your client online. This process prepares you to be a master of coated paper! ;)

    What is this course's project?
Create an editorial photograph for the cover and interior of the imaginary magazine Domestika Magazine.

Who is this online course for?
This course is aimed at photographers, retouchers, and advanced hobbyists who want to learn techniques and tricks to improve their photography skills, especially in portraiture.

Think you don't have the skill level? Don't worry—learn by watching a professional at work and come to understand the complete process of creating a studio photo.

    Requirements and materials
To get the most out of this course, you should know how to handle a camera and have basic knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom.

Materials you need: a camera—reflex is better—and a computer with Photoshop and Lightroom installed. And most importantly: your muse! It can be a model or friend who doesn't mind featuring in your final project. It doesn't have to be the great actor Tamar Novas or someone who has won a Goya; not everyone has Jorge Alvariño's contacts...
