Hi everyone, I'm just starting to do boudoir (5 shoots total) and I always need new inspirations especially for outdoor plus indoor with natural light only.

Anyone have photographer recommendations to follow? I like Joakim Karlsson's style but with non models, not sure if they exist:D

    Thanks!

    EDIT:
    Photographers I know, most are studio photos;
    Michael Sasser
    Kara Marie
    Alex Loveland
    Kelli Marie
    Black Lace
    Marco Ibanez
    Hannah Rachael
    Raquel Watts
    Lusting Lovers

I can only think those for now but might add more

I need more outdoor inspo;) beaches, waterfalls, fields etc

I only do the occasional boudoir session so I don't follow a lot but I do like Michael Sasser and watch a lot of his Youtube videos. People have also shared a few of his tutorials on this forum.

PS As per my personal taste Joakim Karlsson is not much a "Boudoir" photographer, but anyway ;) there are plenty of great masters and BTW Boudoir and/or Glamour actually are very wide in style, storytelling and visual representation which depend on model, location/environment, your idea and so on....

I do like some of his work but not a fan of his recent work, I’ll probably add some more info on my original post

Thank you for the magazine link!

Joakim Karlsson’s style is the one people like over here and I like that lots of them are more “intimate” than most Boudoir photographers, expression-wise. We also have similar locations (beaches, villas, waterfalls) so I’m looking for more outdoor inspo

I understand that you like this style and there is nothing wrong with it :), but technically what Karlsson is doing, it is an intersection between fashion (swimwear, lingerie) and soft erotic. Boudoir is something else (it will take more than just one message to explain) but in brief image "story" and produced emotions are quite different, and this is why I pointed to real masters in this area.

Anyway, as it was mentioned before, you can explore a lot of resources on this forum and on the Web, and I wish you to enjoy from your work with good model / client. Also, a small friendly and trivial advice from very old photographer ;) do not limit yourself by specific style and look, try to make an experimental portraits in all the range (glamour, boudoir, erotic, ....), and see what you can do and what you like the best after all.

Yeah I'm still learning all the differences between Boudoir and other kinds that are similar but I feel like my clients and most people here would think of them as Boudoir or Intimate photography. My clients and models have been great so far and I'm quite experienced in fashion, swimwear and lifestyle so looking forward to learn more about Boudoir:) I do a lot of things because I get bored easily haha

I've found so many Boudoir courses and posing here, although I haven't found anything that I really like, I should just try those poses and adjust it to my liking. Most are not suitable for outdoor though, this is what I'm looking for

Thanks again and sorry if it's hard to understand me as English is not my first language

First of all good luck with your new area ;) of work.

Also, just on finishing note, as I've already mentioned before, style that you are looking for is not a "Boudoir". By definition "Boudoir" means "a woman's bedroom or private room", and such location, lighting and story behind the shot cannot be easily "mapped" to outdoor photography. And as I told you before, you can experiment and try different approaches to create might be your own unique style base on your taste and your previous experience (I have no doubts that you have an experience since you are looking at pretty tough photo setup). This is definitely big project and I'm sure that you will be far from bored ;)

PS. My personal opinion is based on my practical experience in multiply portraiture styles (including previous Boudoir work), as well as few rare chances to shoot together with some masters mentioned on this forum.

    Cheers

    Thank you!

I'm aware of the definition but all of the photographers in Boudoir groups also use Boudoir for outdoor ones so I thought they're the same thing, like Michael Sasser for example. Last question, what would you call Intimate/Boudoir-like shoot outdoors?

    You're welcome.

Again, this is just my personal opinion, but answering your question (for myself) I would try to look at the picture's story and depending on its scenario I would call it or Glamour or Soft Core Erotic. Still the border between them is very vague and it totally depends on personal interpretation (not on volume and content of revealed intimate areas ;)). Actually it is far beyond of our discussion but some pictures which show literally nothing can be treated almost as a porn and some that reveal everything are just piece of real art. For the last case (one of the best examples of nude tasteful Fine Art) you can take a look at Paul Keet's http://paulkeet.com/ works).

    Regards

Great recommendations! Does anyone have any more for photographers in the dark moody niche like Marco Ibanez, Misty Moss, and Joao Guedes?
