Hey guys, I've used a Yongnuo flash for my Nikon for about 6 years now, and I've always been happy with it, but I dropped it and broke it last year, and now I'm wanting to buy a newer model for my new Sony a7iii, but everything I search, says these flashes won't work properly on the Sony! Oh no!!! Does anybody here use a Sony camera? If yes, what flash do you use? I'm not impressed with the price tag on the Sony flashes, and I've read that the Godox flashes work very well with Sony...and I like their price tag! If I shoot with a trigger radio system, does it matter what flashes I use?

i've been using the Flashpoint/Godox AD600 Nikon version for both my sony and Nikon bodies. Just bought a Nikon and a Sony trigger, works fine on both cameras.

I have used Godox flashes now for about 3 years and have never had a problem with them. They work seamlessly with all camera manufacturers and I use mine with my Sony camera.
As long as you buy the Sony version of the Godox trigger then everything will work fantastically.

@xtremecoder and @puppetwarp , are you able to adjust the settings from the transmitter, when using the Godox flash? One issue I'm reading is that you can't adjust your flash settings from the transmitter when using the Sony camera, but when I read about the flash and triggers that I listed above, Godox says you can!

    Hi nana

That question depends on your needs

TT600S - cheapest AA battery powered flash offered flash. Does not have TTL and has the worst User Interface and buttons out of the ones I will mention. Check the price on ebay too, sometimes can be found for a bargain.

TT685S - 2nd Cheapest AA battery powered flash, better user interface and buttons compared to tt600s. Has TTL

v860 II, this one is exactly the same as the t865s except that is has its own rechargeable li-on battery which can be charged, it also has better flash durations and more flashes per chage compared to AA. Has TTL

Godox V1 - the New bad boy in town, provides a better light quaity (circular - more natural and tidy light patter but does not zoom as far as the models above). It also has its own battery like the v860 II, it has the best UI and buttons, making it ideal to serve as on camera flash and trigger at the same time. Also has TTL

All the 4 mentioned above can be used as a master to trigger godox flashes.

I use quite a few Godox V860IIS as well as a few of the Godox AD400 with the XProS triggers. You can absolutely change the settings of the flash with the XPro trigger. I also use them extensively with the a7iii body with no issues.

Also I would like to add the following:

For off camera flash godox AD200s are great. you can buy 2, and use them as speedlights which are 2 times more power compared to the tradition speedlights, ofc they have better flash durations and max flashes. Whats better you can combine them using a godox ad-b2 adapter to get 400w power flash when you need it. Outdoor/group uses. The ad200 combo is great for weddings and events, you can set these 2 on stands around the dancefloor combine it with a on camera flash such as tt685/v860ii/v1

For studio intensive work I would opt for ad600 pro with an ac adapter.

Awesome information here guys!! Thank you!! I'm definitely going to look at the flashes you've mentioned and make a decision.... as far as the triggers go, @bbrooks @Kocaman would you recommend this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1383690-REG/godox_xpros_xpro_s_ttl_wireless_flash.html over this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1341960-REG/godox_x1t_s_ttl_remote_controller.html or are you recommending I use one of these tt685/v860ii/v1 instead of a transmitter? If you are only using speed flashes to trigger your lights, what do you do to control others who are using flash around you?

@NanaNikon if you are only going to use Godox flashes with your Godox trigger then you don't need to buy any receivers.....just the trigger.....I would definitely recommend the Godox X PRO S....bit more expensive but easier to navigate and simpler to use.
    Works seamlessly with Sony a7iii.
    I have 2 x Godox TT600's
    2 x AD200's
    I X AD600.

I have both triggers and hands down would recommend spending more for the XPro for triggering Godox flashes off camera.

I agree. Flashpoint is Adorama's brand which is rebranded Godox. I use the Flashpoint AD400's. Much better warranty for Flashpoint vs Godox.

Godox Flashpoint and Pixapro are all the same triggers just depends where in the world you live to get the best warranty.

Ok I have both the Godox XproS and the Flashpoint R2 Pro here. They are the same price... @Kocaman , are you saying the flashpoint is better, or are you just showing me another option? I'm thinking if I keep my flashes and transmitter the same brand, I shouldn't have issues. I'm looking at B&H because I have credit with them lol, but I can go with Adorama if they have a better product for this

So if I go with the Godox Xpro transmitter, and 1 maybe 2 Godox TT600's flashes, with my AB800, I should be good for now...but I'm really liking the flashpoint AD400 and the 600, and I do really like the pocket flashes...but can't afford those right now... today, I'm trying to go under or around $500 for a flash and trigger system, and I'll upgrade later as I start booking again

They are the same triggers....in the US and UK customers say they get a better after sales service from Flashpoint and Pixapro if they encounter any problems with the product in the future. They say that Godox isn't very good......I don't know myself as I have never had an issue with any Godox product.
