What's wrong with the Pana's vlog to rec709 lut?

 

When you try and use the official LUTs from Panasonic, they can let you down when it comes to consistency in all environments and various skin tones. Those are more stylized than they are technical.
The most used Panasonic LUTs are the Nicest 709 and the VariCam V-Log to Rec709. However, the skin tones are way too red and pink and do not hold up well in the highlights either when it comes to maximizing the dynamic range in your image. We have also noticed that Nicest 709 only works in some situations but also saturates the blues too much and introduces an unpleasing result when filming different color of skin.
Some people have noticed issues with certain red hues that are not converted well when using conversion LUTs from different companies as well as the official Panasonic LUTs. When you film something red, it will look that color in post and won’t shift towards orange like most other LUTs do. You can trust that you will get a great looking image once you add our conversion LUT to your footage. (As long as you have dialed in proper exposure and fixed any potential white balance issues first )
