Systems and under valuing destroy so many promising careers. Too many people fighting for the 100$ and a sandwich gigs and not realizing that spending an hour to put system in place to save 10 minutes a week adds up to one free day per year
Camera calibration gives you a better starting point, most presets and other 1 click tools expect a certain type of image input to "work". Calibration means say red will be the exact same red in every image at the same settings. I mean presets, no one makes a boxed cake and claims to be a chef. Instead of hundreds of almost right presets learn the tools and make your own
I'm so glad I came across this! Bummed that I did see it before you took your pictures down though @foto glam! I agree though that we can't be too careful here! You just never know who is really in here right? lol. As far as giving up weddings goes, I totally get it! Weddings are STRESSFUL sometimes...ok most of the time! I've had my share of bad ones, but I've also had some pretty amazing ones, and the pay is great...if you price yourself correctly. Most of my brides have actually become close friends of mine, so I definitely can't say it was all bad lol. I gave up my business this year. I've been a photographer for about 15 years, but professionally for only 8 years. It was a fun ride and I still do sessions occasionally, but I have a daughter who is very ill and she's needing me more these days, so I made the decision to hang up my Nikon so I could be there for her more. The funny thing is, now that I've taken a step back, the weddings are what I miss the least! I honestly thought I would miss them the most, but now that I've had time to catch my breath...I don't miss the long hours, bridezillas, momzillas, uncle bobs that think they are a professional photographer, and most of all, the stress of making sure I got the shot lol. Will I ever pick my business back up again??? Not sure! Will I ever do weddings again? Probably not. I'm 54 years old, and I just don't think my body can do that again...but like I said, the money was good...real good! lol
I agree with that. Russian photographer Anton Unitsyn usually gave all result photo in a same wedding day. He often slightly retouch photo when move from one location to another. He created his own work system. I have his master class about it and want to upload, but it took much work to translate...

Thank you for sharing these insights @convectuoso ! Not sure what each section means. Would you mind to explain some? What does for example 'Art Repro' mean which you performed 68 times? Or 'Digital Technician': Did you work as a digital technician for like 4.5 days or hours?

Did you actually shoot 225 weddings or is the actual number lower and you have included extras that were sold due to those weddings (extra prints, albums...)?
76 weddings. 225 wedding hours. Art Repro - art reproduction. Hired by either an individual or a gallery to produce color accurate high resolution reproductions. DT is by day. Quickbooks doesn't seem to be too flexible in that respect, and I don't want to 'break down' my day rate to hourly because if a client sees that, they might point out that the booking was only 7 hours vs 10 or whatever. 1st Assistant usually meant I was lighting for another photographer.
