In No Great Hurry: 13 Lessons in Life with Saul Leiter (2013)

Saul Leiter could have been lauded as the great pioneer of color photography, but was never driven by the lure of success. Instead he preferred to drink coffee and photograph in his own way, amassing an archive of beautiful work that is now piled high in his New York apartment. An intimate and personal film, In No Great Hurry follows Saul as he deals with the triple burden of clearing an apartment full of memories, becoming world famous in his 80s and fending off a pesky filmmaker.

Mirroring Mr. Leiter’s gentle cadences and rhythms, “In No Great Hurry” follows his ambles through his neighborhood, taking pictures. If the film at times seems only a tender profile of a quiet and quirky individual, it is also a meditation of a private life at its end. Everything we see Mr. Leiter doing — cataloging files with his assistant, Margit Erb; organizing the negatives and contact sheets stacked across his home — is part of a summing-up.

    School of Visual Arts

Saul Leiter discusses his photographic work with Vince Aletti, accomplished photography critic and reviewer for the New Yorker. Leiter began his photographic work recording moments of urban life, becoming a pioneer in the art of color photography, in the 1950's. It is the color work which coordinates lyrical abstraction with the flux of New York City, and has been widely appreciated since the publication in 2006 of the monograph Early Color.

Saul Leiter's work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Baltimore Museum of Art; the Victoria and Albert Museum; the National Gallery of Australia; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Milwaukee Art Museum; the Yale University Art Gallery; and other prestigious public and private collections. He is represented by the Howard Greenberg Gallery.

Includes a presentation from NYC School of Visual Arts:

Margit Erb is the founder and director of the Saul Leiter Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the art and legacy of the influential New York City photographer and painter. Erb closely assisted Leiter for over 18 years. Her talk is part of the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series, which features presentations by digital photographers, hardware and software developers and industry experts. Presented by the MPS Digital Photography.

As mentioned in the comments, a superb photographer, but above all, this is about the autumn of life, looking back and seeing where we all eventually wind up. It inspired me to start cleaning up my attic, and to find his Homage to Soames. Luckily we have a good scan of his Early Color here. Gratitude to Nikon4Life for keeping this post alive. Well worth the time.

I have all 3 in m4v format, and therefore will be a re-up (not a mirror since the format and metadata are different). If the op Nikon4life refreshes (in any case, don't forget to "like" the OP!), I will remove it. The password is the standard.

Not sure what you mean? "No Great Hurry" is 1hr15min, "Lecture.." is 1hr 3min, and "Interview" is 1hr10min. That is all I have. They were all handbraked from the original files.

It's actually one (1) video - the "other" two (2) are as indicated in the OP . . . bonus material as indicated and as described in Post #15 above. Don't be confused by the title of "13" - It's a single Documentary on Saul - and quite good . . . ;)
