Hi, I'm trying to download a course kindly uploaded by one of our members. In order to download the entire thing, I have to create an account with Yandex- including a verification phone number. This site seems a little sketchy. Is it totally safe to use? Someone mentioned using a temporary internet phone number- could someone tell me how to do that? Thanks!
I realize this is an old post, but other members may have the same questions about Yandex. It's a Russian site and therefore some communication can be difficult. First of all, I have never had reason to be concerned about the site in any way and I've download items from it for years. Generally speaking, the only reason to create an account is if you desire to upload files to the site, or if you are downloading something on their site to your account with them (cloud storage). Otherwise I see no reason to do it. Regarding the phone number. When creating an account with them, they simply want a valid phone number that they can text a confirmation to. I have never had any reason to worry about this. Make sure you save whatever information you provide them, because sometimes things go a bit haywire and you'll need it to re-confirm who you are and they will need to text to your phone number again (the same phone number you used previously). If the links for downloading the items you desire are shown, downloading them should not be a problem. You should NOT need an account with them to do this. I use Internet Download Manager. There can be times when the site can become overloaded (unavailable), just wait (sometimes perhaps a half a day or more) and continue on.
