For anyone who’s taken photos, you know the frustration of trying to find and manage your snapshots on your iPhone, camera, or Mac. With Photos for OS X, Apple has made it possible to have at your fingertips all your photos. Photos for OS X replaces Apple’s iPhoto and Aperture applications and offers users the ability to organize, view, edit, and share photos from any OS X or iOS device.

In the Photos for OS X and iOS book, best-selling author Jeff Carlson shows you how to tame your photo collection with Apple Photos for OS X app. He shows how to convert your existing iPhoto and Aperture libraries to Photos and how to import new photos from your iPhone and other sources. You’ll learn how to work with photos in the Apple iCloud service as well as edit images on your phone, Mac, and in the cloud. And to show off your snapshots, Jeff shows you how to share your photos through prints and photo books.

Don't think the link is active anymore. I recall when many were PO'd about Apple dumping Aperture . . .

I actually somewhat miss the ease of use of the old ACDSee back in Mac OS6.1 and Win XP - LOL. Then everything got "better"

@Nikon4life , wow that takes me back. Like everything these days, software development for the general market aims at accommodating the lowest common denominator. With AI, that level goes even lower. Instead of the intuitive design efforts of the past, everything must be "new". By the time, an interface is almost mastered, they have changed it. Drives me crazy. When I think about the investment in time and money in software that has been discontinued, I want to cry.

    OMG - So true!!
If memory serves me correctly - I recall being able to (I think) save everything I did in upper-level educational years to one 1.4MB floppy disc (or maybe two). This was a ton of material. My first Powerbook (?) had a 40 MB drive and only grayscale - WTH. Then got invested in SCSI drives - ZIP drives - NEC burners (at 2 x write speed) [think that puppy was on sale for $300) and required a cartridge to load the disc - Firewire for digital video using Panasonic DV Cassette, etc, etc.

Same parallelisms apply to music and recording / playback equipment as well as photography and associated "ancillaries $$$$" - very true what you state - much time and money invested. I think I still have an excellent-rated "interface" that isn't even recognized because I bought it on the tail-end of an OS update where the new system didn't play well. I do have plenty of tissues if anyone wants any [for crying] - I'm an adult now and buy in bulk because that's the appropriate thing to do.

Therefore - discovery and participation in sites like this allow some of the thousands of cuts by razor to heal so my nickels aren't wasted on ALL the material shared here. Just need to find a way to "purchase" more time . . . wink.gif

First @vaikkon , thank you for the refresh. Second @Nikon4life , when you find a time retailer, I want to buy in bulk... I seem to have lost a decade or two along the way.

AI is comin' - maybe we can transfer our consciousness (for a price, no doubt) into a Nvidia/Apple merger version of the "UB [or UR]-Mac micro" in the near future . . . it'll only cost ya yer senses [or is it cents?] I can fathom neural mapping is possible but how does one "capture" the soul . . .

And if it can be done at some level - then whom do "you" interact with and for how long? They too must move on . . . and / or likewise transfer - - - then . . . what? Cheers to all and live in the moment . . . :)
