I have been shooting weddings from some time. Weddings in my country can be very challenging at times.

If you have to buy only 2 lenses i would suggest you to go for a Tamron (not Sigma) 24-70 2.8 G2 lens and a sigma 85 1.4 or if you can afford canon 85 1.4IS. I personally own a Tamron 24-70 G2 bought it last june and trust me it is a brilliant lens, very sharp great optics, and the best part is the VC (vibration compensation IS in canon). Tamron 24-70 G2 gives close to 5 stops of stabilisation which can come very handy. And going forward if you wish to get into videos you can use the lens pretty well. I do Portraiture for Editorials and sigma 85 1.4 is a great lens, definitely worth the money.
    Cheers :)

Thank you for your reply Rahul. Is the Tamron 24-70G2 better than the canon 24-70 2.8 mkII? (in terms of sharpness, color rendition, distortion...)

I love my SIgma 84 1.4 and my 35 1.4. It's kind of sad now everything else just sits home alone crying

Some of it depends on the lens but while Sigma Art usually beats Canon Tamron is not there yet. If you have a local camera store see if they'll let you snap a few before a purchase this big

From what I've been reading and from different reviews, the canon 24-70mm 2.8 mk2 still unbeatable (for this focal range lenses). What are your thoughts though about these 3 lenses. Is that price difference really worth it?
    - canon 35mm 1.4 vs sigma art 35mm 1.4
    - canon 50mm 1.2 vs sigma art 50mm 1.4
    - canon 85mm 1.2 vs sigma art 85mm 1.4

Sigma all the way, the difference in light between 1.2 and 1.4 isn't all that much and half inch zone of sharpness means a lot of fuzzy shots. I shoot primarily fashion and have been in large magazines with yongnuo 35 f/2s and 85 1.8s to prove a point. Unless you really need 1.2 and will definitely shoot at that large an aperture it's a lot of weight and expense to impress other photographers more than clients

At f/8 almost everything is sharp. A hundred buck yongnuo is better than most 1K lenses 15 years ago and people still made a living with those. I mean if the only thing you can sell to clients is that you have pricey gear anyone with a credit card can take over for you.

I own the tamron 24-70 2.8 , 70-200 2.8 but tend to stick to my sigma art primes most of the time. The zoom lenses are convenient but the vibe of the prime lenses is unbeatable

Being honest, the difference is negligible. there is a very good 3 part comparison video done by Dustin Abott on Youtube. please see those videos and understand the differences between canon sigma and tamron 24-70 lenses. IMO i have used both the canon and tamron G2, tamron at times can come handy and will be more useful due to its VC (Vibration Compensation). i use a canon 5d mark 4/5dsr which are high megapixel bodies and VC helps a lot to get sharp photos.
    Cheers !

Budget wise I'm a bit on the edge. I know for sure that I want the sigma art 35 1.4, and I am wondering if it's worth buying the sigma art 85 1.4 as I've already got the canon 100 2.8 L macro! Also not sure if I should save to get the canon 24-70 2.8 mk2, will I get much use of it if let assume I've got already the sigma art 35mm 1.4, canon 50mm 1.4 and the sigma art 85mm 1.4 / canon 100mm L macro (I've got the ones in bold)

I'm planning on shooting mostly weddings and portraits!

go for the sigma 35mm 1.4 since you already have the 50 1.4 and canon 100mmL.shoot couple of weddings and see what has to be added or removed. and if needed its much easier to rent a lens and use it couple of times against buying and realising that you dont need it. I shoots weddings regularly and generally just take my 24-70 and 50 1.4 and most of the time its enough, and generally somebody in the photo/video team will have a lens which will cover other the range that i don't have. its very easy to get into GAS and realise later that you dont need a particular piece of equipment. thus shoot with the above combination and see if you need to buy more most of the time i think this will be enough. hope this help.
    Peace :)

15 years ago, peoples priorities were very different. They were also shooting onto film.
