IMHO, here is my take on this tutorial.

    1) Simple Studio Flash = Attempting to use TTL (or E-TTL for Canon) flash instead of manual flash in a studio setting resulting in poor consistency in her examples.
    2) At 53:30, Melody mentioned that she used ISO 1250 to give better exposure for the background using ambient light. Even if this is true, using ambient light is a no-no due to potential color contamination from different light temperatures in a studio setting.
    3) At 57:40, when ISO 500 is used, the flash photo is underexposed and Melody blamed it on bouncing the light and she proceeded to increase the flash compensation which also gives the same result. The real reason is her Speedlite is underpowered and cannot properly light up the subject even under full power.
    4) At 1:03:10, when a grid is attached to the flash under ISO 1250, the background is almost all black. This means that ambient light played no role in exposing the background which contradicted point number (2). Again, the real reason a higher ISO is used is to give the "weak" flash more power.

The first 22:15 of the video can be removed since it is repeated again in the tutorial. Yes, I understand the tutorial is dated but this is just my 2 cents. :)
