" After reading the suggestions, I have decided that an extra incentive will be added to the member that goes through the trouble of posting mirrors where needed. Starting from now, you will get an extra 10 Trophy Points once you successfully mirror 10 dead links. Since this will be manual, please send me a message with the threads mirrored. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and for working on making this forum better. " I have to keep track???? When I mirror a non working link i ALWAYS report the post. Would it be that hard for admin to keep track? There aren't that many of us that provide mirrors as it is.
There probably should be an automated process to keep track of mirror posters but at present this doesn't exist. To gather (or find) the requested material to mirror, upload, post and link the request is probably the limit of my effort. To further collate and send a message for a moderator to check and then distribute 10 likes seems like more work for the moderator(s). What's the realistic turn-around-time on such an effort? Absolutely no disrespect intended for the offer and meaningfulness to facilitate participation and subsequent "reward" - but is there anyone with coding experience that can present an automated solution to this proposal? I'll continue to try to fill requests to dormant or dead posts but not keep tabs on such action . . . . . . and this needs to be fleshed out a little more. Re-filling one's own identified DEAD post probably shouldn't be counted as [a number toward the 10]. And does a thread have to be listed as DEAD by a Moderator first with resultant mirror posted; or must the thread be "reported" for categorization to DEAD status with one's intent to post a mirror . . . ? I know these are minutiae points for discussion - but it's the details that ultimately result in tweaks to make a site robust . . .
Yeah, I've posted so many mirrors there is absolutely no way to keep track. Not to mention that DMs often go unanswered for weeks or months at a time.
