    Hi!
My trusted Epson printer has left this world and I'm now looking for a possible replacement.
Does anyone here have a recommendation?
I scrolled through various printer descriptions on Amazon but there is always someone who says that printer XYZ totally sucks.
So, if anyone has nice long term experiences with a certain printer, I would be pleased to read about it here.
The machine should not be as big and heavy as a sofa.
Moderate ink consumption and nice, natural colors are also desirable.
    Thanks!

What are you printing? Just run-of-the-mill stuff - get another Epson or perhaps a Brother. Had an old Kodak that I luved but that was XP era - those days are gone. HP with Instant Ink is subscription based (but you don't have to go that route; but run the numbers) - if opting to install your own with HP - their cartridges are filled abysmally (basically old ink stamps - if ya remember what I'm talking about).

If you're doing your own prints - then Epson P600 or P800 models are nice - but I think you'd have to buy used (??) The newish P900 and P700 are on sale right now (as of this post):

TOP (The Online Photographer) has some discussion with regards to printers and here's a couple links to serve as a potential launch-pad:

I would heed any information provided by Ctein (a master printer - in his own right - and contributor to TOP) as golden. I'm sure there are other sites with printing info as well but this is one that's pretty solid and cuts through the mustard of gimmicky ads.

I personally use an Epson 40-something - Eco-Tank - the print-jobs are okay - but the colors suck for doing photos; I mean actual prints . . . don't do it on that thing. But all my personal prints are run out of Miller's or MPIX (same outfit).

Luminous Landscape additionally offers a tonne of info on printing too - but I recall it went to a sub-format (albeit very cheap: $1/month) since Michael Reichmann passed -
Please take a look here (free article - but also do a search too):

    Thanks @Nikon4life ! ;)
Great links and sites I didn't know before.
I have the impression that printing photos on paper almost has become a thing of the past for photographers.
When I look at the availability of original inks, only Epson and Canon are left for the discerning photographer.
The latter seems to be in the lead.
In his 'Photo Prints Masterclass' Joel Grimes speaks highly of the Canon 1000.
It was updated last year (1100) but it's still a 32 kg beast.
Do I want 32 kg sitting in my studio? Not really.
I need to do some more research.
But as of no I'm leaning heavily in quitting in-studio printing altogether.
