    Description

Moraine Lake Sky Replacement is a video tutorial that will teach you how to create seamless composites in Adobe Photoshop. Landscape photographer Rachel Ross Jones takes you through her workflow in combining two images, captured at different locations in different light, and making them look like one realistic photograph.

    About the Image
The image created in this processing tutorial came as a result of wanting to make something good come from a disastrous shoot.

During winter, the 11km road up to Moraine Lake is closed to vehicles and it’s only accessible by hiking, biking or skiing. Two weeks before the road was reopened, Rachel and her partner decided to do some night shooting before the area was open to the public. Their goal was to set up a timelapse so with 4 cameras, 4 tripods, timelapse sliders, clothes and food they rented bikes and followed the 15km trail along the mountainside.

Long story short, the trip did not go as planned and after a lot of hard work, both Rachel and her partner returned the day after without any good images.

This composite was created to at least produce something good out of all the effort. The image is combined with a blue hour shot taken from this trip to Moraine Lake and a Milky Way shot captured in Hawaii a few months prior.
