Update for everyone from RGG EDU:

"A minor mistake was brought to our attention with the retouching files in folder 04 of 04 of your original downloads. Although none of the files are missing, some were placed/labeled incorrectly that happened during capture, which can be confusing as you're following along. That is totally our bad and we wanted to get this updated for you ASAP. We are mere mortals and we sometimes make mistakes (Rob doesn't).

We have reorganized and updated those files into their correct locations and you can now re-download the updated files in folder "04 of 04 Real Estate Photography Files Updated.zip". Again, you aren't missing any files now, they just weren't labeled and organized as they should have been. So if you'd like to re-download them now, you can. If you don't want to, you don't have to. We won't make you."

    File updated.

Looks like the REAL professionals do NOT use HDR. Are there any professionals who use a hybrid of flash and HDR?

I'm sure there's someone out there that does. Doubt it would look good. Mike Kelley is the best at this genre of work imo.

You just confirmed my hunch about Serge Ramelli. He mostly uses HDR I think, and no bracketing whatsoever from what I have seen. The difference between his work and the guys you mention is night and day!

I agree. And from what I see with this tutorial, Barry is surprisingly good too. I mean, the results are very very similar, but one is way more gear efficient than the other, and way way faster in post processing.

HDR is used all the time in real estate it's just not used in an overcooked way like many use on a variety of subjects. ;)

HDR is so much faster (e.g. take 5 shots per scene quickly) and less equipment (no flash needed) and less manual post-processing (to mask out reflection, flash, etc).

However, HDR often resulted in "burnt marks" on the ceiling and is very sensitive to different light temperatures from light fixtures in the same room or different rooms that appear in the same shot.
