The day has finally come... it's time to present to you: My own Colour Grading LUT! This has been a highly requested item, that I could never offer, because I just worked with a free LUT I downloaded years ago and fiddled around with the settings until I made it work. However the times have changed! I finally sat down with a bunch of clips and created my own LUT that is much closer to the style of colour grading I usually go for in my videos. As the boring name (TC Base-Look.cube) suggests, this is the base level colour grading I now work off of. So the workflow now is to colour correct my footage, apply the LUT, adjust intensity (usually I set it to 80%) and then make a few final adjustments. Colour Grading is honestly a little complicated and not very easy, so even with this LUT, there are quite a few things to look out for, but workflow described above is roughly how to use it. I will be making a proper video tutorial in the next weeks in which I show you exactly how I use the LUT and how you can make the best use of it! I've rendered a couple stills for you to see a preview. Those are colour corrected Rec.709 stills without the LUT and then with the LUT applied. The LUT strongly emphasises the skin tones and gives the footage an overall warm touch but keeps it tasteful without simply making everything go orange. With the right colour correction, this look, despite the warm bias, can also be used in clips that aren't intended to be warm, as can be seen in the last slide.
