Well, I watched this one and wouldn't recommend even for someone who's starting now. The one from Lynda is way better.

Why do you say that? I found it quite basic. I prefer the photography 101 from SLR lounge. Haven't seen the lynda tutorial.

Sorry, my mistake. The one from lynda is with Ben Long (and it's very good too). The course I was suppose to mention is from CreativeLive, and is called "Fundamentals of Photography with John Greengo", which I think is more comprehensive. When you are starting I guess is good to have a solid basic understanding.

This one for free that is very good too:https://sites.google.com/site/marclevoylectures/

Thanks for your response, which would you say you prefer more Ben Long's or John Greengo's tutorial.

The one with Ben Long was very helpful when I was starting, but I think both are good for beginners. :)

If you want to start learning flash, the best one is Foundations of a Working Photographer with Zack Arias from CreativeLive.

Thanks, I'll take note and check them out once I get the chance. For Lighting, I personally recommend Lighting 101 and 201 from SLR Lounge. Before you take those 2 tutorials, take SLR Lounge's Working With Flash which can be found on CreativeLive. These 3 is a very comprehensive course in Lighting. They claim these workshops were the gold standard for photography lighting, I can see why but I haven't taken all lighting courses so I cannot reassure you whether that is the case, but what I can say is, its very good. Good blend of examples (with settings and equipment and shooting process), humour and easy to understand.

It will teach you how to control:

The amount of light (dramatic vs natural shots, Fill vs "Overpowering the sun/ambient" with flash)
The direction of light (main Key Lights: Flat, Square, Paramount/Butterfly, Loop, Rembrant, Split. Secondary Lighting: Fill, Clam, shell, Rim/Edge, Back lighting, Background Lighting)
The quality of light (soft vs hard, specular vs diffused)
The colour of light (for creative and corrective purposes).

To be honest I didn't watch any course from SLR Lounge, but I'll definitively take a closer look at them, thanks!

You're welcome. If you are into wedding photography. Definitely check them out, especially their complete wedding photography training system which has 8 workshops of very comprehensive content.
