You are right, everyday there's someone asking how to gain GM

It's a great idea, so to let this forum evolve.
But should be well regulated:
Assuming there is a/one "job" asked, I suppose many would try to solve it...how would points be assigned? and from whom?...maybe from Thread's owner (hoping that he will be impartial & honest) by a classification 1st,2nd,3rd place?
I would not speak about "Points" because in that case "Sharings" would be understimated (and away from this forum intentions), but it could be
1st = 10 Likes
2nd = 6 Likes
3rd = 3 Likes
And maybe a stop time for that = Only 1 week to partecipate and to "win".
What do you think?

My misunderstanding @convectuoso , sorry....I understood your proposal in this way:
A member asks for something to be done (example = retouch a face), other members help him and work on it and at the end (1 week for not going too long) he could choose the best for him....the 1st,2nd,3rd prizes are made so everyone is encouraged to partecipate.
So every new member could gain "Likes" even if he has no New shares to offer.

 

this could be the next big thing if its organised in a well fashioned way.

 

Sharing some ideas and suggestions only:
But before we going jumping into conclusion. Who will be the persons who will donate or to be the sponsor of the RAW files for the competition? We couldn't just get it all of the pictures from bucket list of the tutorials and used it to edit, remember its copyright. We all agreed, that the files from the tutorial are being shared to anyone. However, it is only for practice only not for commercial use or anything. I think this will be the best time to utilize our aspiring photographer in here to share their masterpiece for us to edit, or to have a rendition of their work. This way we could have a great collaboration from photographer and photo editors. This way we could also credit the contributors or photographers to earn points too for participating and showing their craft. And it should be according to the theme.

And speaking of, who will be the list of key persons who will be judging the competition or it will be according to the crowd's votes. Again these are only some of my ideas and options, but still up to the board and management to decide.

 

Maybe and Just Maybe... the general assignment its a take a photo for the forum banner... and everybody votes by categories and mayyyybe, everybody just get the likes... but the all categories winner also gets the 10 trophy points...

 

I like more the idea of a competition, because the freelance work paid with trophy points, works for people who has a lot of trophy points, and well, many of us are suffering for those points, buttt i think that a competition can propitiate give likes to others for taking photos or retouching and everyone can have better opportunities for get those trophy point, and eventually get gold. maybe this competition idea and freelance work for a transfer of trophy points idea, can both work at same time...

 

Or you could just let people pay for gold membership. That seems like the obvious one.

 

There are still many tutorials, presets and actions to buy, the problem is that no one spends money on them. Currently there is a lot of old or irrelevant material, sometimes a fraction of the tutorial. The best thing would be for the access to be paid and with that money adm buy them new videos. Sorry for my english
