I would advocate for removing Zeroupload from the list. So many users have problems with it and it tries to trick you into downloading malware files. Plus, there's no way to download whole folders at once - you have to download each individual file.

I'm growing to hate Zeroupload too. But it is the only site that offers unlimited storage space for free that I know of.
I wonder if I will live to see the day there is a file sharing site that offers everything:

    1. Unlimited storage space
    2. Large file sizes (up to 50GB)
    3. Long storage time duration (at least 1 year)
    4. Free (or dirt cheap).
    5. Fast upload/download speeds
    6. No daily download limits or wait times between downloads
    7. Able to download all files together instead of individually
    8. Anonymous signup
    9. No spam or malware

    I won't hold my breath.

Being a wee bit facetious (and understanding what you mean) - if ya take a few minutes to really reflect on those items listed - this forum actually fits the bill and checks off all the elements; with a few caveats defined by a timeline of "participation." cheers.gif

Does anyone know of an acceptable anonymous upload site that works from TOR? I've finally found some things to share, but I really don't want to have to register with one of the direct download link sites. Is it still paranoia if they are after me?

OnionShare looks interesting, but everyone would need to use TOR to retrieve files.

If there's one thing you learn quickly after becoming a moderator, it's the sheer number of spammy hosts people have used to post content. Endless redirects, porn, ads, "please wait 45 years for your download", bitcoin mining... there is so, so much to sift though.

@george - I propose that having a simple "approved hosters" list like we have here isn't enough in hindsight. I think we also need a "prohibited hosters" list that mods can add to periodically as we find stuff and that's easily linked to by members affected by the scourge of spammy links. Anything that's not on one of those two lists falls in a gray area that's permitted unless otherwise stated.

If you're amenable, here are a few that I've noted for the prohibited list to get us started:

    click.ru
    uploada.sh
forced joining of telegram groups in order to download files
    springsfern.in
    tamping.net
    qiwi.gg
    files.offshore.cat
    fileditchstuff.me
    tgxlink.eu.org
    djxmaze.in
    spyderrock.com
    cyberfile.me
    trashbytes.net
    filehaus.su

I'd actually move zeroupload to this list as well. Recent changes have basically made it unusable on top of all the problems they already had. Just ask Jupiter about his recent experience.

That's the problem, we're a clearnet group and trying to use tor for files would require everyone to use TOR, which isn't going to fly. If you're worried about people accessing your info, use a temp mail service for sites like Mega (and don't lose your password and account key lol) - that way you don't have to give any real information. I have over 40 free mega accounts, for instance, tracked in a spreadsheet, where I used junk email addresses and made up names lol

This is indeed a great idea, though a bit tedious.

Hi @curiousdude would you mind letting me know why you recommend each host is prohibited? I would really appreciate a reason for each host that you have listed. I realize this may take some time but it would go a long way in explaining why each host is not allowed. I understand the Telegram reasoning but not the others.

    Thanks

I documented above already: spam, endless redirects, trying to get one to install malicious software, waiting an hour before downloading the next file (which is already explicitly prohibited). Not going to take the time to document each one individually, though. Forum groups do this all the time - have a blacklist that they maintain and update when necessary.

I know you've been having trouble for a little bit settling on a reputable file hoster for some reason, but let's take it offline so as not to clog up the chat. I'll send you a DM.

I placed hundreds of posts, all on workload (few on mega) and I never had someone complaining except that user from India now. Never got my links deleted by workupload. George recommends 1fichier over workupload because the files there get deleted after 30 days, but at the same time he states that 1fichier also deletes after 30 days.....
    o_O
I doubt that there is a free, forever reliable host accessible from everywhere at all, and making people replace hundreds of uploads will kill this forum sadly.... the forum should have the post creaters in mind, not the leekers, they do not contribute.

So, workupload is easy for uploaders. If it its only for the retention time, it is the same as pixeldrain and should be reconsidered.

That's not what George said, though.

What George actually said was simply to stop using Workupload in the future. Basically, you can just phase out your use of it and use alternate hosters instead when you have to replace links. I don't read George's post at all as "stop what you're doing and replace all your links immediately." If you've got Workupload links that are still working then just leave them until you need to replace the links. I think the rub here is that here we are two years later and folks have just been sticking with Workupload the entire time. And as this new user recently complained - it contributes to a perception that:

Though yes, it's going to happen with any free file hoster. Workupload just became more of an acute problem than the others, I think (though I'm embarrassed to say that it took me about a year myself to realize that Workupload had been blacklisted - which I made a post about, actually). Sometime their links don't even last 7 days. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to the inconsistency.

A distinction, by the way, with Pixeldrain, is that while their links do expire for free registered users, they expire 60 days after the date of the last download. So, a file can still last a really long time if it's getting at least 1 download every 60 days.

And good catch on the 1fichier/workupload inconsistency. Looking at the post history, it appears that was an editing mistake that's stuck around since early 2025, but I don't actually know what 1fichier's current retention timelines are. It's pretty well documented throughout the forum that I personally detest 1fichier so I've never looked into it lol - if they're down to 30 days, too, then yeah that's not really any better, at least not for the free version.
Edit: I just looked it up and it appears to actually be 90 days for users who register for a free account (unless your file isn't downloaded within the first 30 days: https://1fichier.com/tarifs.html ) so that probably needs to get fixed in the post.
