From searching the web and torrent sites for scans of Photographers work like David Bailey, Steve McCurry etc. I discover it's extremely hard to find HQ images that haven't been alternated in some way or another. David Bailey for example has over 100 books yet only a couple can be found in digital form.
I'd love to know if there is a site like this where people share scans or have access to full Res copies of famous works.

I love studying others works and enjoy a good photobook. But sometimes I just want to see them close up on screen digitally. I've had some scans in the past from friends but they are not professional at all and the colours are completely off (and pages bent)

If anyone knows some good sources for such things It would make my year!
    Thanks in advance

I've also wondered about any "underground" repository for such titles and many out-of-print (but cherished) copies . . .

    Although a bit far from ideal - - -

    Try https://josefchladek.com/
An effort on the site's owner's part and probably worth a couple doblóns . . .

I've also considered "digitizing" some of my own selects - but it's a hell of an undertaking because it'd all be a manual process of 60mm-ing and flat-laying the pages (as best one could - anyways) and then collating, converting to PDF, etc. A lot of work - but an interesting to-do for some day in the [not-too-soon] future . . .

So . . . yeah - - - if anyone is in a sharing frame of mind and knows of any central-ish sites performing such work - prey tell . . .

    Warning: Thread Hijack in progress:

It turns out that book and magazine scanning Is something of its very own art form. The comic book preservationists have a lot of expertise, if you happen to know anyone in that community. One thing you'll want to get is a hi-def edge scanner. Otherwise you'll either have to destroy the book to get a quality scan or put up with the frustrating bowed page distortion effect. After that it's all about process -- rotate pages to vertical, crop, adjust whiteness levels, hand correct blemishes, package, and publish. An accomplished comic scanner, working from a clean source, can produce finished material at around a page a minute.

This sounds about right - ;)

I've perused several CBR scans over on myanonamouse.net from series of my youth and the peeps doing the work present stellar end results; albeit the files are rather large - but nonetheless excellent. I've an old scanner too but I think it's only supported under Windows XP or NT - - - a project for a future date, perhaps. And thank you for the info - might be worth looking into with those who have the knowledge over on the Mouse - the general vibe is the members are very giving of their time (and knowledge) . . . image-http___000smileys.magix.net_public_images_book-smiley.gif

I don't think many of the actual scanners hang out on the Mouse. Most of them can be found in private comic hubs in the DC++ (Direct Connect) network. The stuff shared on the mouse is handled by the torrent distribution folks. Although, this may have changed some since the last time I was in contact with any of them. When and or if you are ready to start your project, reach out and I'll try to put you in touch.

Thanks - I didn't realize DC++ was still relevant - but makes total sense - obtained a lot of obscure music via hubs after Napster was hi-jacked "back in the day" . . . wow - that really brings back some memories . . .
