Gold WINDOWS 10 [MEGA] THREAD

Everything you'll ever need to run a Windows computer or virtual machine!
Windows Editions:​

• Windows 10 Home and Pro: for home and power users - usually you want to go with the Pro version;​
• Windows 10 Enterprise: for large companies and power users with special needs. It's essentially the same as Pro but with more features that can be enabled on demand and doesn't come with suggested Apps. You can safely use it as a cleaner version of the Pro.​
• Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB/LTSC: a light version of Windows designed for critical infrastructure like ATMs, medical equipment and other solutions where stability is a must - large update cycle, new features every 2 years, only security updates. You can use it in some situations but you might miss the latest drivers;​
• N and KN: all editions above are available in the N version (for the European market, without Media Player and improved EU regulation compliance) and KN (for North Korea).​

How to Properly Install Windows 10

1. Download Windows 10 from the links provided.

2. Burn to external media (flash drive)

Common question / statement: "You can install Windows 10 through an OS (I'm using Windows 7), why not go with that?". It works however you won't get a clean install, there will be left overs from the old Windows. You should really use some form of external media.​

1. Get a USB flash drive (and save the files you might have there somewhere else)​
2. Download https://rufus.akeo.ie​
3. Open the program, choose the USB flash device​
4. Press ALT E​
5. Drag and drop the Windows ISO to the small "cd" icon​
6. Click "start"​
7. Disable secure boot in the BIOS​

3. Boot your machine from that USB flash drive

4. Pick your Windows version, Pro or Enterprise for best results:




5. Do not use the "upgrade" option. Go into the "advanced mode" and delete every partition you might have on the machine:
This step will delete everything on the computer, so don't do it on a Mac with Bootcamp.




After removing all partitions click "unallocated space" and click "next" at the bottom. Windows will take care of creating the new partitions.
