    • How to tell a person’s story in a portrait?
    • How to overcome the fear of photographing people without giving up the authenticity of the decisive moment?
    • How to use the power of composition, natural light, and moment to evoke emotion?
    • How to craft a visual style in an era when everything was photographed before?

Suitable for novice to advanced and aimed to create a workshop-like experience, this guide won’t test your ability to explain technical concepts, as we will learn how to harness the tools of composition and light to evoke emotion and create better and stronger storytelling portraits.

      IN THIS EBOOK WE WILL:
    • Explore the workflow of portrait making from visualizing an idea, to creating the final image.
    • Learn how composition can help you tell better stories and create stronger portraits.
    • Cover basic to advanced techniques of how to use concepts like light, color, angle, moment, looking space, and background to benefit your portraits.
    • Establish a method of working where you will reach satisfying results, with fewer shutter clicks and fewer headaches in the editing room
    • Learn how to overcome the fear of approaching strangers, without losing the authenticity of the moment.
    • Get behind the scenes with detailed case studies.

IS THIS BOOK RIGHT FOR ME?

It doesn’t matter if you are a professional photographer, an advanced amateur, or just getting started. This book won’t test your ability to explain technical concepts but will help you craft your ability to create a better composition, work with more suitable lighting, choose the best tools for the job, and most importantly, be able to tell a story in a portrait.

    Thanks for the "like" - I just made it a regular post now (it's relatively older . . . ) . . . ;)

Thank you Nikon! Completely unexpected. I was prepared to wait for a while till it lost its luster.
I have one question. The book does not display correctly in Calibre or Books (Apple). Does anyone else have this issue?

On an iPad or similar - it presents somewhat half-assed: the images are viewable if you tap on them to display full sized - so it essentially works along with the text. As for an iphone-sized viewing:
    Fuhgeddaboudit (completely FUBAR) - - - so don't waste yer time . . .

My file doesn't not fit on screen.
    Does anyone have another one?
    Thanks

I UL'd a conversion to PDF from the ePUB - it's a little better than the ePUB but the images are still slightly mal-aligned - but is readable for the intended purpose . . . hope this helps ya . . .

Thanks for looking into it. I just wanted to check if it was something I did. Occasionally issues like this come up. In the words of Doris Day, "Que Sera, Sera." There is nothing like 1950s ~1960s AM radio wisdom...

Frankly and regrettably, despite Nikon's best efforts, I think it is a lost cause. Aspect ratios skewed. Text cut off on the right margin... It is probably best to put this thread out of its misery...

    UPDATE:
As a personal project, I unraveled the epub with Jutoh, extracted the images and rebuilt a pdf complete with OCR'd content. After thanking and consulting with the original poster @Nikon4life , he suggested I make it available here. I hope that you find it an improvement. And of course, please take the time to thank the OP if you haven't already.

If you are talking about my experiment in post #15, the password should be the standard one used for the site: The one that starts with "p" and ends with "b"

This is a butt-hole remark! If the file is password protected (for some ridiculous reason), then simply post what it is within your offering (which was post #14, not #15 by the way) and eliminate the need for the question. Not everyone follows the rules (or even knows what they are for that matter) and people post items here with passwords other than p-v.club.

If what you have to offer is of any value to people, putting a password on the file isn't going to stop them from posting it elsewhere. Perhaps you were not aware at the time that posting it for Gold members, means only Gold members can see the file and use the password once they have clicked "Like"? And, since you have made it for Gold, you're what, assuming that Gold members are more trustworthy than regular members? They aren't necessarily, probably even less so if the truth were known. :)
